There's plenty to see and do when you explore the Pencarrow coast!
Pencarrow, or Te Raeakiaki as Māori first named it, means ‘The headland where the sea pounds” for obvious reasons!

SS Paiaka Wreck | A small steel-hulled steamer wrecked in 1906, one of hundreds of ships that are buried under the waves or sands along this coastline.
EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATIONS
Bike: use a reliable mountain bike or hybrid bike in good condition, with front suspension.
Tyres: use tyres that are at least 2.0" wide, with at least a combination road/off-road tread (but ideally off-road), and always take a pump and a spare tube so that you can vary the tyre pressure to suit the conditions, and be covered in case of puncture.
Clothing: dress to the conditions (usually shorts and tshirt with a jersey in reserve, though you may wish to take thermals as well), and always take a light jacket. Closed shoes recommended.
